Alyn Wyn Jones began his career playing for Swansea RFC. In 2005 he won the Principality Building Society's Best Newcomer award.
Jones is able to play as a lock or a blinslide flanker and has covered both positions for Wales and the Ospreys. He made his senior Wales debut against Argentina and was chosen for the 2006 Invesco Perpetual Series squad. Jones was a pivotal figure in the 2007 RBS Six Nations, featuring in the starting lineup of every game.
In May 2007, Jones was rested from the Welsh squad for the two-Test tour of Australia. However in June he was named in the 41-man preliminary Rugby World Cup 2007 summer training squad.
In August, Jones played in the defeat to England at Twickenham and was named in the final 30-strong squad for the Rugby World Cup. He subsequently played in the Invesco Perpetual Summer Series against Argentina and France.
In November 2007 Jones was selected for the starting lineup of the Prince William Cup match against South Africa.
In 2008, under the new management of Warren Gatland, Jones was chosen for the RBS Six Nations Campaign, making three appearances in the Grand Slam Campaign against England, Ireland and France. However, an injury forced him out of the remaining matches.
Having won 23 caps for Wales, Jones has been selected for the Invesco Perpetual squad 2008, who will face New Zealand, Canada and South Africa at the Millennium Stadium in November.
