Profile

Rhys Williams is a full-back and winger, playing regularly at number 15.

He made his debut for Cardiff RFC in 1999 and stayed within the set-up after the inception of regionalism and the creation of the Cardiff Blues region in 2003. He has been an ever-present figure in the Cardiff and subsequent Cardiff Blues line up since his debut, and was Cardiff Blues Captain in the 2005–2006 season.

Rhys represented Wales in rugby at all age levels from Under 16 to Under 21, and played in the Youth World Cup in 1999 when Wales reached the final. He made his debut for the full national Wales rugby side in a Six Nations Championship match against Ireland in Dublin in 2000, and has since won 44 caps.

He was one of the “Magnificent Seven” Blues players that helped Wales win the Grand Slam in 2005.
Williams returned from injury late in the 2006–2007 Magners League season when he made a superb man-of-the-match comeback in the clash with Edinburgh in April 2007, scoring a first-half hat-trick in the 48-0 victory.

In the 2007/2008 season, Rhys Williams celebrated a testimonial year, having spent 10 seasons playing for Cardiff and Cardiff Blues.
