Ian Gough began his career at Pontypridd RFC and Newport before signing in 2003 for Newport Gwent Dragons. In 2007, he signed a three year deal with rival club Ospreys having spent four seasons playing for the Dragons and a total of eleven years at Rodney Parade.

Gough won honours for Wales U19 / Wales Youth and Wales A before making his international debut in 1998 against South Africa, he retained a squad position until 2002. In 2003 Gough made an appearance against Romania, and made a comeback on the international scene in 2005.

In 2006 Gough was a constant figure on the international scene, playing in the RBS Six Nations and touring Argentina. He was also part of the Invesco Perpetual Series squad playing against New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.

Gough was part of the 2005 and 2008 RBS Six Nation squads both of whom went on to win the Grand Slam title.

Gough featured in every match of the 2008 Six Nations campaign gaining his 50th cap against France in the millennium stadium.

He has won a total of 52 caps for Wales and has been picked for this year’s Invesco Perpetual Series.
